The North Central Florida Blues Society (NCFBS) is an affiliate of the Blues Foundation, which holds the International Blues Challenge (IBC) every year in Memphis. As an affiliate, the North Central Florida Blues Society holds a regional competition, which allows for a winning band, solo/duo, and self-produced CD to compete as a representative of the North Central Florida region in the IBC in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee in the Beale Street Historic District.
Participating artists must be from Alachua, Clay, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Leon, Levy, Marion, Madison, Putnam, St. Johns, Sumter, Suwanee, or Union counties. The majority of members in the group must reside in one of these counties.
NCFBS will only provide funding from the door receipts, no other funding from NCFBS will be provided. Thus it is incumbent upon the winner that they are capable financially of attending the IBC in Memphis, taking off work, etc.
At least one PERFORMING member of the group must be a full (non- Student, non-Honorary) NCFBS member. Managers/agents/representatives do NOT count toward the membership requirement.
The entry fee for a band is $30 and solo/duo is $20. There is a $20 entry fee for CDs. All door receipts will be distributed to the winners to defray travel costs to Memphis using a pro-rated system based on the number of performing individuals in both categories.
If you are interested in competing in the North Central Florida Blues Society Regional Blues Challenge on August 26, please contact the NCFBS for a full set of rules at firstname.lastname@example.org. Anyone that wishes to compete must officially enter no later than August 10. That means that inquiries must happen before that date.
The actual start and end time of the North Central Florida Blues Society Regional Blues Challenge will be determined by the amount of participants. This will be known soon after August 10, the registration deadline.
