The North Central Florida Blues Society is excited to offer a triple helping of mighty Blues music on Friday, April 5 at the High Dive!
A powerful throwback to the west side sounds of 1960s Chicago, The Welch-Ledbetter Connection has become an absolute force in the world of Blues and Soul music. This force is fronted by the dynamic vocals of Chicago powerhouse Mike Ledbetter, and “Monstrous” sounds of Boston blues guitar veteran Mike Welch. Riding the wave of their debut album, ‘Right Place, Right Time’, the duo burst onto the scene in 2017 with thrilling responses from audiences all over the world. They have become well known for their raw musical intensity, a trademark collaborative harmony all their own, and a vigorous approach to their retro roots. Now donning an established group of dynamite musicians to form “The Connection”, this is only the beginning for this team. In 2019, the Welch-Ledbetter Connection received FIVE Blues Music Award nominations, including BB King Entertainer of the Year for Ledbetter.
Little Mike & the Tornadoes is well-known for its flawless, high-energy blues sound, modeled after the great Chicago bands of the ‘50s. Little Mike, is a mean harmonica player who cut his teeth in New York City in the late 1970s and early 1980s, backing up legendary Bluesmen Pinetop Perkins, Hubert Sumlin, and Jimmy Rogers.
Inspired by classic and electric Blues, the Gainesville-based Bridget Kelly Band has placed their unique stamp on the Blues genre, with high-energy live performances and a hybrid sound that mixes Texas and Memphis Blues with various southern Blues traditions. The powerful and sultry vocals of singer Bridget Kelly along with the incendiary lead guitar work of Tim Fik forge a signature hybrid sound that combines female urban Blues with riff-driven rockin’ Blues guitar. Boasting a rock-solid rhythm section comprised of the powerful and dynamic Tim Mulberry on drums and the seasoned Mark Armbrecht on bass, their star continues to shine and rise.
General Admission is $20, with NCFBS members getting in for $10. Ticket link is here: https://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/1815617 . Blues Society members should contact the Society for discount code to buy advance tickets.
