The North Central Florida Blues Society (NCFBS) is pleased to announce that Tas Cru and His Band of Tortured Souls will play downtown Gainesville at the High Dive on Sunday, December 14
Honors and recognition include Cru being awarded the 2014 Blues Foundation’s Keeping the Blues Alive Award for Blues Education, named to the New York State Blues Hall of Fame – 2013 as a Master Blues Artist, and named by Blues Festival Guide Magazine as its 2009 Blues Artist on the Rise.
The opening act is the R. Mutt Blues Band, a Gainesville band that has participated in the International Blues Challenge in 2013 and 2014.
Based out of upstate New York, Cru has gained a reputation as a humorous storyteller and an impressive musician. “I’m trying to live up to what a reviewer has dubbed me – ‘the master of the triple entendre,’ Cru said. “My goal is to take listeners beyond the literal and even what’s suggested to where meaning is as much felt as understood”.
The doors open at 6, with the R. Mutt Blues Band playing at 7 pm, and Cru at 8 pm.
Admission is $15 for general public, $8 for NCFBS members and $5 for students.
Later in the week, Cru will participate in a NCFBS Blues in the Schools session, a Blues education program.
The NCFBS is a not-for-profit organization organized to preserve, cultivate, nurture and promote the blues in the Gainesville area, and is funded in part by the Alachua County Tourist Development Tax.
