This Sunday Samantha Fish plays the High Dive (210 SW 2nd Avenue) in Downtown Gainesville. Samantha Fish, winner of the Blues Music Award for Best New Artist Debut in 2012, is one of the biggest young rising stars in Blues today. She’s only 25 years old and growing as an artist without losing any of her fire that grabbed the attention of the world. She is renowned for her sultry voice and prodigious guitar talents and her ability to show both intensity and tenderness. Fish is influenced by contemporary Blues greats like Tab Benoit, Tommy Castro, and Mike Zito, the older masters like Howlin’ Wolf and Son House, and rock acts like the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, and the Black Crowes. Local acoustic favorites Middleground, who represented the North Central Florida Blues Society at the 2013 International Blues Challenge, will open the show.
Admission is $15 for general public, and $8 for NCFBS members. You can renew or join at the door to get the reduced member rate, but must join with a NCFBS representative before paying admission.
