The Norman Jackson Band, 3rd Place finishers at the 2016 International Blues Challenge, will be making their first trip to Gainesville to play at the High Dive, courtesy of the North Central Florida Blues Society.
The band is led by Norman Jackson, who was born in Canton, Ohio, but raised in Detroit and the south side of Chicago. They are a truly original and unique act that promises to not just play the finest and most genuine Blues you’ll ever hear but also transcend what a “band” does by thoroughly entertaining the audience. Norman’s true and entertaining storytelling is paired by his young apprentice and saxophonist Rick Shortt’s energy and showmanship.
Norman has sung with the Chilites, George Clinton, and many famous blues, gospel and soul acts. Norman has lived the blues and says, “By the time I’m done singing about me, you’ll leave here feeling good!” Years of struggle with addiction and life’s challenges penned his long and winding journey.
