The North Central Florida Blues Society is pleased to announce that Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’ Blues will play the High Dive in Downtown Gainesville on Sunday, May 18.
Arnold toured and recorded live albums with Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker in the 1960s, and has played with many other legendary Blues artists. His high school band was often joined by future soul music legend James Brown on piano. Mac Arnold was nominated for best Traditional Blues Male Artist at the 2012 Blues Music Awards. He also headlined last year’s Brick City Blues Festival to rave reviews. Jazz Now said Arnold has “one of the most original voices in blues” and All Music Guide called him “one remaining virtual blues goldmine”.
Local artist Rick Randlett will open the show. Randlett’s new CD, Nothing to Do, was on the national Blues charts for many weeks and has also received radio play all over the world.
General admission is $15, with North Central Florida Blues Society members getting in for $8.
The doors open at 6:00 pm, with Randlett playing at 7. Arnold will start at 8:30 pm.
The North Central Florida Blues Society is a not-for-profit organization organized to preserve, cultivate, nurture, and promote the blues in the Gainesville area.
The High Dive is located at 210 SW 2nd Avenue, in the former Common Grounds location.
