The North Central Florida Blues Society is pleased to announce that The Joe Moss Band will play the High Dive in Downtown Gainesville on Sunday, March 16.
Joe Moss, one of Chicago’s finest Southside blues players, is a regular at Chicago’s House of Blues and Buddy Guy’s Legends. Moss is a monster showman that started as a sideman to many Chicago’s big names, including Magic Slim, A.C. Reed, and Billy Branch. Moss has a traditional Chicago-style combo, very schooled in the traditions of Blues, but his sound is a bit more groove-oriented, aimed to make people get up and dance.
Little Mike & the Tornadoes, a national artist that currently lives in the Gainesville area will open the show. The Tornadoes will have Tony O, a New York City Blues guitarist that was an original Tornado in the late 1980s and early 1990s, with them for this show. Tony O also was a member of the Legendary Blues Band with former Muddy Waters bandmates Willie “Big Eyes” Smith and Calvin “Fuzz” Jones.
General admission is $15, with North Central Florida Blues Society members getting in for $8.
The doors open at 6:30 pm, with Little Mike & the Tornadoes playing at 7. Moss will start at 8:30 pm.
The North Central Florida Blues Society is a not-for-profit organization organized to preserve, cultivate, nurture, and promote the blues in the Gainesville area.
The High Dive is located at 210 SW 2nd Avenue, in the former Common Grounds location.
